Last week I received a new Manfrotto monopod (with legs) which I won a few weeks ago on ebay. I shot the below photo using it for the first time. I think it will take a little time for me to get used to using the monopod.
I also used 5 exposures to create the original HDR which I processed using Photomatix and Photoshop. As the shot turned out a little soft i decided to try and give it a little of the "Lord of the Rings" fantasy look to it. You be the judge of how well the shot turned out.
Below are some stairs which are directly behind where the last shot was taken. You can not see them as they are on the other side of the railway. This is my second attempt at trying to capture these stairs. The first time I was very disappointed with the colours I was getting so I went back and took triple exposures of the whole shot (102 images in total) to create a HDR of the shot. For some strange reason the HDR did not turn out the way I had envisaged a number of the highlights blew out and created some very low contrast areas. I have cropped these annoying bits out of the shot which I think has improved it. I think my exposure and colour problems with the shoot may be due to being an overcast day.
There is another flight of similar stairs that go up past these ones. I plan to capture the entire flight of stairs at some stage, but I will have to stand close to the railway line to do that and I am not sure how legal or safe that will be.
It was a great sunny day here in Sydney so I decided to go out for a bit of a photo trip. Below is a shot of Lavendar Bay. I am still trying to work out the best way to make the most artistic point out of the distortion that I am getting with my panoramic photos.

Recently I got myself a Panormaic Tripod Head. What is that you may ask? It is a device that allows you to move a camera around a central point in order to take wide or spherical panormaic photos.
Interesting. This was not shot with a fisheye lens but rather multiple 20mm overlapped stitched shots on top of panoramic... read more
